ChorusOz 2026: all the great choruses and one doomed love triangle in a concert featuring all the best bits from Verdi’s Aida. Whether you’re joining us for this annual ‘big sing’ or coming to hear the show, conductor Brett Weymark guarantees you an evening of wall-to-wall passion and pageantry.

ChorusOz brings together singers from across Australia for an exhilarating weekend of music-making at the Sydney Opera House, culminating in a performance with a professional orchestra and soloists from among Australia’s operatic elite and emerging stars.

For 2026, conductor Brett Weymark has made a concert adaptation of Verdi’s spectacular Aida. The focus is on the love triangle at the heart of the plot, with some of the best-known arias and duets (think ‘Celeste Aida’ and ‘O patria mia’). But ultimately, this Aida is all about great choruses from a composer at the top of his game – the Triumphal Chorus is just the beginning – so you’re guaranteed an evening of wall-to-wall highlights.

ChorusOz 2026 takes place on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 June. Visit sydneyphilharmonia.com.au to sign up as a participant. All levels of singing experience welcome.

Presented by Sydney Philharmonia Choirs

Event details

It is extraordinary. My notes are wobbly, my voice is uneven, but as the last bars of… music and song rise loudly and triumphantly, I cry at the huge, collaborative and euphoric wonder of it all.
