Attendance at an event or performance is subject to the General Terms and Conditions for tickets and events and any other terms and conditions notified at the time of ticket sale.
The material on this website is protected by copyright. You may use it for your personal and non-commercial purposes only. You must not otherwise use, copy, modify, transmit, store, publish or distribute this material without written permission from us.
You must not use any logos or other trade marks displayed on this website, whether registered or not, or modify them in any way without written permission from us or the lawful owner.
While we aim to ensure all information on this website is up-to-date, details may change from time to time.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted, fault-free or error-free service.
This website may contain links to other websites or content. We do not guarantee that the links, or the websites or any content to which they link, will be functional, accurate, secure or up-to-date. Terms and Conditions
- Gift vouchers can be used to book performance, tour and event tickets but are not valid at any of our precinct bars or restaurants or our retail store.
- Gift Vouchers are strictly valid for a period of 36 months from date of purchase. Any unused balance will not be refunded or credited on expiry.
- If your Gift Voucher is due to expire but hasn’t been used, a new Gift Voucher can be purchased with a new 36-month validity period.
- If your order total exceeds the value of your Gift Voucher, you must pay the balance using another of our accepted forms of payment.
- Gift Vouchers are non-refundable and cannot be redeemed for cash.
- An existing Gift Voucher cannot be “topped-up” but a new Gift Voucher may be purchased.
- Sydney Opera House reserves the right to close customer accounts and request alternative forms of payment if a fraudulently obtained Gift Voucher is used to make a purchase.
- Sydney Opera House may provide customers with information about the redemption status of Gift Vouchers they have purchased.
- Sydney Opera House does not accept any liability for lost or stolen Gift Vouchers but may, at its discretion, offer a replacement upon presentation of suitable identification.
- Current membership benefits are as advised here and in email marketing and may be changed from time to time by SOHT in its absolute discretion.
- Gift memberships should be activated within 6 months from the date of purchase, which is the “expiry” date displayed on the gift membership voucher.
- Any unused balance will not be refunded or credited on expiry.
- Memberships and membership vouchers are not able to be returned/refunded or redeemed for cash.
- Additional values cannot be added to an existing membership voucher; however, additional vouchers may be purchased.
- If your order exceeds the amount of your gift membership voucher, you must pay for the balance with cash, cheque, debit or credit card.
- Sydney Opera House reserves the right to close customer accounts and request alternative forms of payment if a gift membership voucher is fraudulently obtained and is used to make purchases.
- Sydney Opera House may provide gift membership voucher purchasers with information about the redemption status of the gift membership.
- Advance or priority access is only available to select performances as advised in the weekly Insiders newsletter. Membership does not guarantee that you will obtain tickets, whether through a member presale or a general public onsale.
- Sydney Opera House does not accept any liability for lost or stolen gift membership vouchers.
- The Insider membership program is not designed to be used by group bookers.
- Unless stated otherwise, a limit of 10 tickets per Insider per performance is in place. Tickets bought in excess of ticket limits may be cancelled without notice.
- Membership may be cancelled or suspended without notice in response to activity such as unauthorised resale or unauthorised credit card usage.
- Information on how to enter form part of these Terms and Conditions of entry. Participation in this program is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
- The Promoter is Sydney Opera House Trust, Bennelong Point, Sydney NSW 2000 (ABN 69 712 101 035), (+612) 9250 7111 (‘Promoter’, ‘us’, ‘we’).
- Entry is open to citizens and permanent residents of Australia over the age of eighteen who have an ABN and an Australian bank account. Applicants must be currently residing in Australia. Employees of the Promoter and their immediate families and agencies and companies associated with this program are not eligible to enter.
- The program entry period commences on Tuesday 15 August 2023 and will close on Monday 11 September 2023 at 11:59pm Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT).
- You may submit an entry for the program only once, with one product or range, under one of the following three categories (For the Young and Young at Heart, For the Home and For the Look). The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any incomplete or automated entries. Multiple entries from the same IP address, same email address or from automated entry services are invalid.
- To enter the program, you must complete the entry form located at https://www.sydneyoperahouse.com/uncovered and submit it online. Some applicants may be invited to give more information or have discussions about their work.
- Successful applicants will be selected for their creativity, innovation and suitability to the program and the Opera House’s values. Up to three successful applicants may be notified at any time from 25 September 2023 and invited to discuss their product with the Opera House. The Promoter’s Uncovered team may (in its discretion) decide to: not choose any successful applicants; choose fewer or more than three successful applicants; choose more than one successful applicant per category; not choose any applicant for one or more of the categories. The successful applicant(s) will be contacted using the contact details provided in their application.
- The Promoter’s Uncovered team is not required to give reasons for any decision it makes, and all decisions are final and binding on every person who enters. No correspondence will be entered into. The successful applicant(s) will be given the opportunity to enter into an arrangement with the Promoter’s retail partner to place the successful product(s) on sale on consignment by the retail partner at the Opera House retail shops for a minimum period of three months (in accordance with terms set out by the retail partner). Each successful applicant will also be featured on the Opera House social media channels. The successful applicant(s) must not use the Promoter’s brand, image, logo or any IP of the Promoter, unless permitted in accordance with the terms of any brand licence granted by the Promoter (in its discretion) in relation to the successful product(s).
- The Promoter may in its absolute discretion at any time and for any reason cancel the program and/or recommence it from the start on the same or similar conditions, subject to any relevant regulations. Circumstances giving rise to such cancellation may include that the program is not capable of running as planned, including due to an intervention by any outside agent or an event which changes the result or prevents or hinders its determination, or an event which prevents or hinders the intended arrangements with the retail partner, including but not limited to vandalism, power failures, tempests, natural disasters, acts of God, acts of government, public health emergency, civil unrest, strikes.
- You warrant the following: that your entry is your original work; that you are the owner of all the material you submit as part of your entry into the program (“Entry”); that your Entry does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party. By entering the program, you grant us a worldwide, perpetual, non-exclusive, royalty free and transferrable licence to use, reproduce, segment, distribute, prepare derivative works of, display and communicate your Entry in any media to the extent necessary to run and promote the program and for any ancillary purpose. You also grant us the right to sub-licence the rights under this licence to any third party deemed appropriate by us. To the extent permitted by law, you consent to the Promoter doing anything in relation to the Entry or the communication thereof that (but for this consent) would otherwise infringe any moral right or performer’s rights that you might have anywhere in the world. We may promote the program, including your Entry, in any media during or after the program entry period. Promotional material may include the use of all or part of your Entry. All Entries used by the Promoter will be credited where appropriate.
- The personal information you provide in entering the program will be used by the Promoter to conduct the program. By entering the program, you consent to the storage of your personal information on the Promoter’s database and the Promoter may use this information for future promotional and marketing purposes regarding the Promoter’s products including contacting you via electronic messaging. Your name and contact details may also be shared with various third party organisations, including resident companies, presenting partners and our sponsors, who may contact you from time to time regarding promotions. Such organisations must comply with the Promoter’s Privacy Policy and with strict conditions governing how personal information is to be handled including applicable privacy Laws.

The winners will be chosen at random by a Random Number Generator at 14:00pm on Tuesday 16 January 2024. The total prize value is $501.98

- To enter the competition you must complete in full the Blockbuster Survey sent to you by the Promoter or made available on site at Sydney Opera House. You must complete your contact details at the end of the survey in order for your entry to be valid.
- This is a game of chance. There will be one winner per month selected in a random draw from all entrants during that month. The monthly winner will be drawn at the Sydney Opera House (Level 5, Export House, Circular Quay NSW 2000) at 11am AEDT/AEST during the 2nd week of every month (or next business day for any public holiday) as follows:

Information on how to enter and the prizes form part of these Terms and Conditions of entry. Participation in DanceRites 2024 (“the Competition”) is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions. The Promoter of the Competition is Sydney Opera House Trust, Bennelong Point, Sydney NSW 2000. (ABN 69 712 101 035), (+61 2) 9250 7111.
Who may enter:
Entry is open to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community dance groups. Entrants must be over the age of 13. Entrants under the age of 18 require the consent of their parent or legal guardian to enter.
Entrants must enter as part of a dance group (with no more than 15 participants) and each member of the dance group will be deemed to have accepted these Terms and Conditions.
If any employees and their immediate families of the Promoter and agencies and companies associated with this Competition wish to enter the Competition, they must declare their relationship to the Promoter to ensure any conflicts can be appropriately managed.
How to enter:
Registration for the Competition commences on Wednesday 10th April 2024 at 9am (AEST) and will close on Wednesday 22nd May 2024 2024 at 5pm (AEST) . Each dance group may only enter the Competition once. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any incomplete or automated entries.
To enter the Competition, entrants must complete the registration form and submit a video of their dance group performing which must be between 2 and 3 minutes long (“Performance Video”).
If the Promoter receives more registrations than the available slots at the Competition, the Promoter will select dance groups to participate, based on broad geographic representation, the information provided in the registration form and the Performance Video.
How will entires be judged:
The Competition will take place on 19 and 20 October 2024 at the Sydney Opera House and all rounds of judging will be judged by a panel of judges selected by the Promoter. The panel will be made up of community dance and song line custodians, professional choreographers and dance practitioners. Judges may change between rounds and there will be multiple rounds of judging.
The winners and prize recipients will be announced at the end of the DanceRites Competition Final, and will be published on the Sydney Opera House website (www.sydneyoperahouse.com).
The Promoter’s decision in relation to all aspects of the Competition is final and binding on every person who enters and no correspondence will be entered into.
What are the prizes?
The winning dance group will receive $22,000.
One group will be awarded runner-up with a prize of $6,000.
Two groups will be honoured with a Rites of Passage award of $4000 each, to acknowledge outstanding contributions to revitalising cultural knowledge and practices.
One group will be awarded the best Wild Card dance with a prize of $5,000.
The Promoter reserves the right to award additional prizes or change the prizes, at its sole discretion, provided that the value of the prizes specified here will not decrease. The Promoter is not responsible for any dispute regarding prize dispersal or use.
The winning dance group members must not designate someone else as a winner.
Entrant(s) may be required to participate in media interviews on request and must direct all media enquiries to the Promoter.
The Promoter will consult with the key contact nominated in the registration form as to the payee details for the prize(s). The prize(s) must be made payable to a person over 18 years old.

Intellectual property:

Entrants must warrant that their entry is the dance group’s own work and that they are the custodian of all the material submitted as part of the performance entry into this Competition (“Entry”) and that the Entry does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party.
If the Entry includes any copyright material (for example, music, lyrics, text, or artworks) entrants must ensure that they have obtained and paid for all permissions, licences and clearances from the relevant rights holders necessary to perform the Entry without infringing the rights of any person. This requirement includes any copyright material not created by the entrant.
Recording:
By entering this Competition entrants agree that the Promoter can photograph, film or make any sound or audio-visual recording of an Entry for the Promoter’s archival purposes and for use in any media. If entrants allow the Promoter to record an interview, the Promoter may use it in any media worldwide.
Entrants grant the Promoter a licence to use any materials incorporated in the Entry to the extent necessary for the Promoter to exercise the rights set out in this clause 7, including to assign or sub-licence those rights as may be necessary. This includes the right to adapt or edit it and/or to juxtapose that recording with other content. Entrants acknowledge that, for practical reasons, the Promoter may be unable to credit the original creators. Entrants are responsible for securing all performers releases, music and other clearances, unless agreed by the Promoter.
