Everyone’s House: Sydney Opera House Strategy
Our 50th anniversary, in 2023, was an opportunity to reflect on everything that’s been achieved over those five decades and to think deeply about the challenges ahead.
The resulting three-year strategy draws inspiration from the past while engaging with new and diverse artists and audiences to create a place where everyone feels welcome.

Artistic Strategy
Our Artistic Strategy sets out the Opera House’s ambitions up to the end of 2024, including our 50th anniversary in 2023, to inspire artists and audiences, and to shape contemporary culture, locally, nationally and internationally.
Conservation Management Plan
The Opera House’s latest Conservation Management Plan (CMP) –‘Respecting the Vision: Sydney Opera House – A Conservation Management Plan’ – provides detailed guidance on conservation and management at an important moment in the Opera House's Decade of Renewal.
Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging Strategy
The Opera House plays an important role in shaping our nation, life and culture. We are setting out the positive change we want to see in the years ahead. Because we have a committed workforce. And because it will make the Opera House a better place for everyone. Because what we do next will inspire others.
Environmental Action Plan
Inspired by nature, architect Jørn Utzon conceived a building ahead of its time, inherently sustainable by design. Almost five decades on, the Opera House has set a new standard in sustainable heritage buildings and we remain committed to inspiring greater environmental awareness across the community.
Heritage Action Plan
As temporary custodians of this State, National and World Heritage site, we are committed to ensuring the Sydney Opera House’s heritage significance – the building and its functions as a performing arts centre and gathering place for the community – is conserved and celebrated for current and future generations.
Reconciliation Action Plan
For thousands of years, Tubowgule, the land on which the Opera House stands, has been a place of gathering and belonging. The Gadigal would meet on the tidal island, eat and share stories. The Opera House carries on this legacy by embracing and celebrating the culture of Australia’s First Peoples.
Visitor Experience and Engagement Strategy
We are committed to delivering a holistic visitor experience that is consistently excellent and extraordinary. Each year, millions of people gather on site and engage with us online to be entertained, to learn, to escape and to connect.
