Useful information:
Electro, cutting-edge and leftfield beats from around the world
A collective of pioneering Sydney promoters and tastemakers, WavyLand have had their finger on the pulse of the city’s emerging youth music culture since they began running parties in inner city pubs back in 2018. They’ve since grown to become a lightning rod for some of the coolest acts from around the world, hosting Australian tours by such names as Bladee, Ecco2k, Thaiboy Digital, Eartheater, Boy Harsher, King Woman, VARG²™, Machine Girl, Show Me The Body, and Underscores.
To celebrate the company’s seventh anniversary WavyLand are hosting two eclectic nights at the Sydney Opera House for Vivid LIVE. For the first night, they’re joined by Atlanta rapper BKTHERULA, Brooklyn multihyphenate Slauson Malone 1, New York rapper and producer Wiki and Melbourne hip-hop heroes Posseshot.
BKTHERULA
With fans including Ice Spice, Atlanta rapper BKTHERULA is one of the buzziest young rappers to emerge from the Sound Cloud scene in the past few years. Since her multi-million streaming viral smash Left Right (2019), she’s expanded into a new kind of rap psychedelica, fusing raucous bars with ethereal melodies, impressionistic songwriting and dystopian soundscapes.
Slauson Malone 1
As Slauson Malone 1, Los Angeles-born multidisciplinary artist Jasper Marsalis creates dizzyingly abstract, deeply emotional music that encompasses left-field hip-hop and psychedelic soul.
Wiki
Form-bending New York-born rapper and producer Patrick Morales – aka Wiki –emerged in 2011 as part of the teenage rap crew Ratking, before releasing his 2017 solo debut No Mountains in Manhattan, featuring collaborations with Earl Sweatshirt, Kaytranda and Ghostface Killah, and the critically acclaimed Oofie (2019) and Half God (2021).
Posseshot
Melbourne hip-hop duo Muscles and KHA – better known as Posseshot – are a lynchpin of the city’s vibrant counterculture, bringing together the thriving underground of rap, graffiti culture and fashion. Across a series of blistering albums and mixtapes, their anthems – including Bad For Your Health, Messenger, and All That I Got – have become the raw sound of the city.
